What we offer every Sunday for your children:
Children's Church during the 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship services during the school year and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the summer.
What is Children's Church? A church service for kids ages 3 through fourth grade!
Older children can participate by being helpers. We use the same themes that are being used in the adult church each week, and then create a worship service that has a child friendly format. Children's Church is led by our Children's Ministry Director, Marcie Nelson, Children's Program Manager, Kris Gallert, and a team of volunteers who make the service meaningful for your child.
Sunday School is from 9:00-10:15 a.m. September - May
This year's theme will be "God is Our Rock & Roll with Him!"
At 9:00 a.m. children ages 3-fourth grade began in our Fellowship Hall with an energizing opening. We sang, recognized birthdays, and got excited about God!
Students in fifth-seventh grade began in our youth and family room for some ice breaker type games, and "get to know you" activities.
At 9:30 a.m. children and students would break into their age levels and head to their classrooms. This year we had a rotational schedule with a twist. We pride ourselves on having very committed Sunday School teachers who are filled with enthusiasm. Our Sunday School curriculum focuses on teaching Bible stories and Bible points using games, drama, and crafts. We truly believe learning about God's word should be FUN!
Sunday School children ages 3 - fourth grade sing during our worship services once a month, sharing songs they learn during our opening time at 9:00 a.m.
If you are visiting Our Savior's for the first time we have a Sunday School information table outside of fellowship hall in the lower level staffed with volunteers each Sunday to welcome you and answer any questions you may have.
We encourage you to register your child early! Sunday School begins on Sun., Sept. 7. Children are welcome to join us anytime!
Other Opportunities for Your Child:
Faith Friends: a fellowship group for children in kindergarten - fourth grade will begin on Wed., Sept. 17 from 4 - 6:15 p.m. This group focuses on being a Christian friend and building friendships. Snack provided. A calendar of events will be available at the first meeting. Read the monthly Rise & Shine for events.
3D is a group for 5th - 7th graders and meets Wednesday from 4:15 - 5:45 p.m. September 10 - May 13. 3D is a place to come and have fun, be yourself, laugh a lot and hang out with other Christian kids and adults. Weekly themes and activities. Read the monthly 3D newsletter for events. Snack provided. Questions? Call Kris Gallert, 567-8349, ext. 14.
Kids of the Kingdom: A children's choir for kindergarten - fourth grade directed by Robin Leatherberry. We will begin practice Wed., September 10 from 4:15-5:45 p.m. at church. A calendar of practice dates will be available. They share their music during church and in other performances in the community.
Rock Choir is a choir for 5th-8th graders directed by Robin Leatherberry. Practice will begin Wed., September 10 from 5:45 - 6:30 p.m. at church and continue weekly through May 13. The Rock Choir shares their music during church services and in performances in the community.
Vacation Bible School: The 2008 theme was "Power Lab: Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power." 265 children experienced Bible Stories, Crafts, Games, Music, Snacks, Fun, Friends, and more! Thanks to our congregation and all of our many wonderful volunteers who made it possible! Join us next year in June! Dates and theme to be announced.
Milestones in Your Child's Faith Life:
Baptism - children can be any age at Our Savior's. This is truly the first step in becoming part of God's family.
Receiving their first Bible - three years old by September 1
Starting Sunday School - three years old by September 1
First Communion - third graders
